Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ intensified into a very severe storm as it moved nearly northwards with a speed of 2 kmph in the last 6 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
Cyclone Biparjoy is moving north at a speed of four kilometres per hour. Because of this, two number signals have been installed at all the ports in Gujarat except Porbandar.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted conditions that are becoming favourable for Monsoon onset over Kerala during next 48 hours. The conditions are also favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South Arabian Sea, entire Lakshadweep , Maldives and Comorin area, some more parts Southwest, Central and Northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeastern states during next 48 hours.
Moreover, heat wave conditions are also likely to continue over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during next 4-5 days. In the meantime, a Severe Cyclonic Storm “Biparjoy” over eastcentral and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea is also expected.
Meanwhile, Cyclone Biparjoy has hit Gujarat. It is moving north at a speed of four kilometres per hour. Because of this, two number signals have been installed at all the ports in Gujarat except Porbandar. A number signal has been installed at the port of Porbandar. This storm is now about 1000 kilometres away from Porbandar in the sea. Due to the storm, there is a possibility that it will affect the entry of the monsoon in Gujarat.
Due to the low pressure in the Arabian Sea, an alert has been issued in the coastal area of Saurashtra. Signals of two numbers have been installed at all the ports of Saurashtra. Two number signals have been installed at the ports including Bedibandargah, Navabandargah, Rozibandar, Sikka, Okha port in Devbhoomi Dwarka district, Salaya port in Vadinar and Navi port in Porbandar district. Fishermen have been prohibited from venturing into the sea.

A warning has also been issued for people in all areas of the beach. According to the department, there is a possibility of a strong cyclonic storm on June 8. Due to the cyclonic storm, there is a possibility of rain with strong thunderstorms in many districts of the state. Security teams have also been alerted regarding the possibility of heavy rains. According to the department, due to the formation of a depression towards the northwest, the storm is moving forward. This can affect many districts in Maharashtra and Gujarat
