A CRPF constable posted in Maoist-affected area allegedly killed four of his colleagues and injured another after a fight broke out in para-military’s 168th battalion at Badaguda in the tribal Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.
Inspector General of police (Bastar range) Vivekanand Sinha confirmed that the incident took place at Basaguda CRPF 168 battalion G company in Bijapur at 5.15pm. He said senior police officials, including the superintendent of police, have left for the camp where the constable allegedly opened fire after an altercation with his senior colleagues.
Two sub-inspectors, one assistant sub-inspector and a constable lost their lives after the shootout.
According to preliminary information, constable Sanath Kumar allegedly opened fire with his service weapon, an AK 47 rifle.
The jawans reportedly had a brawl before the fatal incident took place.
