AMN / NEW DELHI
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India welcomed the developments in Karnataka and termed it as a victory of democratic forces. The party congratulates the people of Karnataka, who were keen to see that political horse trading would not be allowed to win in their state. The people have defeated the attempts of Modi government controlled by RSS, to use the Raj Bhavan as a tool in the hands of BJP. Governors are not supposed to act as petty swayam sevaks, when matters of constitutional propriety are decided. The Congress-JDS combine should also be congratulated, for their quick and timely action for taking the matter before the highest court of justice in the country.
The Supreme Court promptly acted, reduced the number of days from 15 to 24 hours, setting aside Governors’ manipulation for horse trading and defended the values of democracy. The role of the highest court is appreciable.
The happenings in Karnataka prove that BJP strategy to undermine democracy with money and muscle power could be defeated by the power of people committed to secularism and democracy. It is a defeat of Bellary mafia.
The CPI calls up on all secular-democratic and Left political parties to learn appropriate lessons from Karnataka and march forward to defend the vital interests of the nation and people.
