The Communist Party of India (CPI) has demanded a CBI and CAG investigation into ₹1,700 crore received by six unrecognised Gujarat political parties in 2023–24. Despite lacking political activity or contesting elections, entities like the Aam Janmat Party (₹620 crore) and Satyawadi Rakshak Party (₹330.55 crore) amassed massive donations while failing to submit audit reports.

The CPI suspects these dormant entities act as fronts to channel funds to the ruling BJP, threatening electoral integrity. It has urged the ED, Income Tax Department, and Election Commission to audit funds, cancel erring registrations, and publicly disclose beneficiaries.

“The sheer scale and unusual pattern of these donations give rise to a grave apprehension that some of these parties may have been created or used merely as fronts for routing political funds, with the money ultimately finding its way to the BJP. This is a serious matter concerning the integrity of India’s electoral democracy and cannot be brushed aside as an issue involving fringe political organisations. If proxy parties have been used to conceal the source or destination of funds benefiting the ruling party, the people of India have a right to know the complete financial trail. The CPI demands a transparent investigation into every link in this chain and full public disclosure of the findings, with action against every individual and organisation found responsible, regardless of political position”.
