To make “Bharat Jodo Yatra” effective and meaningful former AICC President Rahul Gandhi has decided to engage with civil rights groups on Aug 22 at Constitution Club in New Delhi.

According to the source, the idea behind this move is to engage with prominent leaders of civil rights organisations from across the country who have made distinct contribution to the cause of human rights.

During the eight year rule of Modi led NDA government in the centre, many instance of human rights violations along with high handedness of the authorities aginst their leaders and political leaders have come to the fore which led to distrust among the people.

During the 150 days of “Bharat Jodo Yatra” the Congress Party will appeal to the masses to join hands against the central government anti people policies which has led to social unrest in the country.

Former AICC President is likely to kick start Yatra from Maharashtra on September 7 covering more than 3000 km across the country.

Meanwhile the Congress Party is trying to reach out to like minded political parties along with civil rights groups for the Bharat Yatra program, said a source.

The decision to embark on ” Bharat Jodo Yatra” was taken at Nav Sankalp session at Udaipur in May this year.

Interestingly, during the previous UPA regime many civil rights groups led by Anna Hazare under the banner of India Against Corruption (IAC) led spirited fight against the then central government led by Congress Party and voiced their opinion against corruption which led to fall of UPA government at ghe centre.
