The Congress on Saturday mocked at BJP over media reports that fifteen of the youths accused of lynching Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri in September 2015 over suspicion of storing beef have managed contractual jobs with NTPC Limited.
“Even what went on earlier (lynching of Akhlaq) was also like a contract job….,” Congress leader Raj Babbar told reporters when he was asked to comment on the news item. Making veiled attack on the BJP, he said, “What difference does it make that whether the contract is from a government department, a government-run PSU or the ruling party”.
According to media reports, Tejpal Nagar, the local BJP MLA, has also facilitated the recruitment of those people in a meeting with senior NTPC officials. The employment offer is part of the ‘Maharatna’ company’s scheme to offer opportunities to people affected by NTPC projects. The Dadri lynching incident had sparked off major political row and the BJP was at the receiving end of major criticism for pursuing the politics of polarisation.
