Congress today condemned statements made by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Paris terror attacks. The Uttar Pradesh Minister had remarked that superpowers should think whether the attacks were a reaction to the killing of innocents in Arab countries.

Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken alleged that Azam Khan’s statements are not fringe but blatantly mainstream. He said no form of violence can be justified.

Mr Maken also targeted the NDA government saying petrol and diesel prices have increased even though the international crude prices have been reduced by more than 60 per cent since May 2014. He said Swachh Bharat cess has been levied which means eating in restaurants, and making telephone calls are now unaffordable for the common person.
