Congress today registered a complaint with the Election Commission against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for violation of Model Code of Conduct by allegedly seeking votes from a particular community.
An audio tape allegedly containing Chouhan’s voice has surfaced in which he is heard asking for favours from a local BJP party worker for getting votes for the Assembly by-poll. The polling for the by-election in Garoth Assembly constituency will take place tomorrow.
Congress, in its complaint said, the audio recording reveals that Mr Chouhan promised to reward the BJP worker if he sought votes from his community. Congress Leader Digvijay Singh said the party has requested the Commission to take immediate action against the Chief Minister for violation of Model Code of Conduct.
