Northern and eastern parts of the country are reeling under severe cold wave conditions. 26 people have died so far due to intense cold throughout Bihar. 12 people died in districts of Samastipur, Muzaffarpur and East Champaran.
Other casualties have been reported from Sitamarhi, Nawada, Saran and Patna districts of the state.
Classes upto class eight have been suspended till 10 of this month’s due to biting cold. Met department has issued alert for next two days.
Train and air services were hit due to dense fog. Railways has cancelled over one dozen trains and 26 trains passing through Bihar are running 15-20 hrs late.
In Rajasthan, despite an increase in minimum temperature, dense fog and cold have badly disrupted normal life. Road, rail and air traffic are also affected by heavy fog.
