Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav unfurled the tricolour at Vidhan Bhawan in Lucknow. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that his government has launched scores of welfare schemes for common people, poor and women but still lot more needs to be done.
Paying homage to the martyrs, he said the independence is incomplete unless we reach out to the last person of the society with all the benefits which the society and nation owes to him.
Heavy showers created hurdles in the Independence Day celebrations at various districts including Sultanpur, Bijnore, Hamirpur, Jalaun and Amroha. But it could not dampen the spirits of patriotism in the people who attended these programs despite drizzling.
Schools rescheduled their open field programs and organised the cultural events laced with patriotic fervor in covered halls. On this occasion heads of the political parties hoisted national flag at their respective state headquarters at Lucknow.
