The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI Friday conducted searches at 20 different places in West Bengal including Kolkata at the official and residential premises of the accused persons in an on-going investigation of a chit fund case. According to Agency, during the searches, several incriminating documents were recovered.
A case was registered against the CMD and others of a Kolkata based Group of Companies. It is alleged that the accused persons collected deposit from the public to the tune of three crore rupees on assurance to repay the amount with high rate of interest.
The accused persons allegedly did not repay and closed down the office and thereby cheated the investors and misappropriated the invested amount.
