A special aircraft carrying 55-year-old Rajan arrived in New Delhi from Bali this morning. He was taken to CBI Headquarters after his arrival at the Palam Airport. Rajan was arrested in Bali following his arrival from Australia on October 25.

In a surprise move, Maharashtra government has transferred all cases related to fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai yesterday, Maharashtra’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) KP Bakshi said the investigation is being handed over to the CBI because of its expertise in handling trans-national crimes. Mr. Bakshi said the state police will provide all necessary support to CBI for carrying out the investigation.

Underworld don Chhota Rajan is wanted for over 70 cases of murder, extortion and drug trafficking in Mumbai, the most prominent among them being the J Dey murder case and Pakmodia Street firing case. Mumbai Police commissioner Ahmad Javed said yesterday that Chhota Rajan’s involvement in journalist J Dey’s murder case will be thoroughly examined and put up before the court.
