Chandigarh District Court today framed the charges of abduction against Vikas Barala, the son of Haryana BJP President Subhash Barala, and his friend Ashish Kumar.
Both were booked for stalking and kidnapping Varnika Kundu, a Chandigarh-based disc jockey and daughter of a senior IAS officer.
Judicial Magistrate Barjinder Pal Singh pronounced the order stating that all the charges in the FIR have been added in the chargesheet filed by the police. The court fixed the next date of hearing to 27th of this month.
On this 11th, the arguments on framing of charges were concluded.
Vikas Barala and his friend were arrested on the intervening night of August 4 and 5 following Kundu’s complaint but were released on bail as they had been booked under bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
The two were arrested again on the 9th of August after they joined the investigation and were charged with attempt to abduct under sections 365 and 511 of the IPC.
Notably, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajnish Kumar Sharma had dismissed the bail plea of Vikas Barala last month.
