Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale has said that the Ministry will look into the proposal of setting up of Sports Academy for Disabled worth 350 crore rupees in Meghalaya.
Following a meeting with Meghalaya Minister of Social Welfare Department Krymen Shylla at Shillong, he told that Meghalaya Government has requested for the construction of Sports Academy for Disabled and has given 50 acres of land for this purpose.
He said that 4,800 differently-abled persons from Meghalaya have benefited from five camps organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Till date, the Ministry has organized more than 8,000 camps for differently-abled across the country, he said.
The Minister further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has taken bold steps to bring all-round development.
