Centre has rushed jawans of para-military forces, Army, Border Roads Organization and NDRF for necessary help to heavy flood hit Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and other north eastern states.

In a series of tweets, Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju said the Central government is in constant touch with affected states.

He said, round the clock control room of Home Ministry is monitoring the severe landslides and floods in these states.

Three people were killed while seven others feared dead in landslides in Tlabung sub-division in southwestern Mizoram near the Bangladesh border and around 400 houses were inundated due to floods.

Accordin to reports  10 persons were swept away by landslides along with their houses in three villages, including Marpara South, Changpui and Phairuangkai.

The Khawthlang Tuipui river  inundated 350 houses within the sub-division, including 121 houses in Tlabung town.

Church, indoor stadium, ICDS centre, waiting shed, village council house, meat market, restaurants and playground were among those inundated by waters in Tlabung town.

Over 500 Young Mizo Association volunteers in Tlabung carried out rescue operations and evacuated the affected families and they were sheltered in community halls, schools and other safe buildings. About 130 families have been provided shelters.

The worst-affected villages are Serhuan, Tippereghat, Nunsury-II, Silkur, Tuichawng, Balukiasuri, Lamthai, Malsuri, Diblibagh leh Kalapani. Altogether, about 1500 families have been affected by floods. Road communication has also been badly affected.

Heavy downpour since last night brought Guwahati to a virtual standstill today disrupting normal life and killing two persons, including a minor, in an incident of flash flood-induced electrocution near the Assam State Zoo. The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has identified the deceased as Pushan Kalita, a Class-VIII student of Maria Montessori School and Anowar Hussain, a rickshaw puller.
Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu has ordered an inquiry into the incident of electrocution. Additional Deputy Commissioner Palash Pratim Bora will conduct the inquiry. An ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased has also been announced by the district administration.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has been continuously monitoring the catastrophic situation even as the Guwahati City Police has made an arrangement for night patrolling in the flash flood-hit areas using boats. Sonowal has directed the district administration and other agencies to strictly monitor the situation and take prompt measures as deemed fit.
