Centre today asked the security agencies to take strictest possible action against the culprits involved in an ambush in Manipur’s Chandel district in which a JCO and five Jawans of Assam Rifles died.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the security situation with senior officials. He also spoke to Director General of Assam Rifles over phone who apprised him of the situation in state.
Mr. Singh also expressed his grief over the death of Jawans. He conveyed his condolences to their families.
6 Assam Rifles personnel including one Junior Commission Officer killed died in an encounter with militants in Manipur today.
Assam Rifles Public Relation Officer at Imphal told media that the incident took place at Zoupi Village under Chakpikarong Police Station in Chandel District at around 1 pm.
All the six Assam Rifles personnel died at spot where encounter took palce. Additional security forces have been moved to Zoupi just after the incident and search operation is going on now.
However, there is no report of any arrest in connection with the incident.
