The Ministry of Home Affairs is in constant touch with State Governments for facilitating, extending such assistance as may be required by them.
ODISHA
In response to the flood situation in Odisha which has reportedly affected a population of 8.60 lakh and affected 19 districts, MHA has coordinated the deployment of 03 helicopters since 11.9.2011 for rescue and relief operations.
On the request of the State Government 04 (four) teams of NDRF comprising 125 personnel along with 25 boats have been deployed at Kendrapara, Delanga, Pipli and Jajpur for rescue and relief activities. The teams have so far rescued 135 persons.
The State Government has opened 275 relief camps and 17 medical camps.
BIHAR
In response to the flood situation in Bihar which has reportedly affected a population of nearly 3.5 lakh specially in the districts of Rohtas, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Patna and Arwal, MHA has coordinated the deployment of helicopters for rescue and relief operations.
On the request of State Government 03 (three) teams of NDRF comprising 107 personnel along with 12 boats have been deployed in the Rohtas and Aurangabad districts for relief and rescue operations. Teams have rescued 349 persons till 12.9.2011. In addition, 05 (five) teams of NDRF comprising 105 personnel and 16 boats have also been deployed at other locations in Bihar to deal with the flood situation.
The State Government has informed that the situation is improving with the river Sone showing signs of receding.
ASSAM
In response to the flood situation in Assam, which has cumulatively affected a population of 9.12 lakh, 05 (five) teams of NDRF comprising 131 personnel along with 19 boats have been deployed at Guwahati, Dhubri, Lakhimpur, Tejpur and Dhimaji for rescue and relief operation.s The breach in NH-52 caused due to floods in Dhimaji has been restored for vehicular traffic. There is presently no high flood alert in respect of Assam.
