NEW DELHI: CBI on Thursday questioned senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar in connection with the 2007 Makkah Masjid blast in Hyderabad.

Indresh Kumar who also heads the Rashtriya Muslim Manch, to integrate Muslims with RSS has been accused by the investigating agencies for conspiring with several terror activities.

His examination has been seen as significant as he was summoned just after Sawamy Asimanand was questioned by the NIA few days back.

CBI sleuths interrogated Indresh for more than six hours and asked about his connection with thakur Pragya Singh, Swami Asimanand and others involved in the various terror acts.

Asimanand is believed to have divulged crucial information on the larger conspiracy of the Hindutva terror, which the CBI is working on to unravel the entire plot in Hyderabad blast case. The Rajastjan ATS had already named Kumar in the chargesheet filed in a Jaipur court on October 22.

The chargesheet said that the senior RSS leader, towards the end of October or early November, 2005, addressed a secret meeting in Jaipur which was attended by seven suspected terrorists.

CBI had sent a notice to Indresh under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) which authorises the concerned agency to seek a person’s appearance before it who is supposed to be acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case.

Nine people were killed and 70 injured in bomb explosion inside the Makkah Masjid during Friday prayers on May 18, 2007.

Indresh, however said that he was innocent and he was being framed by congress party. “. I have been living an open life since my birth and have association with RSS. I have devoted my entire life to the nation," he told media persons outside CBI headquarters.

He said that for many years, Congress party and its leaders were trying to harm both RSS and my image which has also been exposed through Wikileaks.
