NEW DELHI: The CBI on Tuesday conducted searches at 11 places in the case of alleged Rs 107 crore irregularities in the Common Wealth Games related Projects. The searches include the residences of Secretary General of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, Lalit Bhanot and the Committee’s Director General V K Verma. Sources told our correspondent that the searches started early this morning on a 107 crore rupees deal struck with a firm for results update system for the Commonwealth Games. The searches were carried out in Gurgaon, Noida and the national capital. This is the first time when premises of both Bhanot and Verma, both considered close to Commonwealth Games Chief Suresh Kalmadi were searched. While Verma has been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate a couple of times, Bhanot was also on their radar. The raids come close on the heels of the Agency arresting sacked treasurer of CWG Organising Committee C M Jayachandran on the alleged bungling in the Queen’s Baton Relay in London. Jayachandran was arrested after several rounds of questioning by the investigating agency.
