In a joint operation CBI and Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested Ramesh Shivhare, who is said to be one of the main accused in the Vyapam scam. He has been arrested from Kanpur.
UP DGP Javeed Ahmad told media tha Shivhare was wanted by CBI in several cases in Vyapam scam and was absconding since long.
Shivhare is husband of ex Zila Panchayat chairperson of Mahoba. Sources said he acted as a middleman and arranged for the impostors and dummy candidates to appear in the examination carried out by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board commonly known as Vyapam for a certain amount.
Additional SP of STF Arvind Kumar said that Shivhare has accepted his involvement in Vyapam scam. MP government had also declared a reward of Rupees Five thousand upon him. ASP said that Shivhare is wanted in six different cases of Vyapam registered by CBI. A Non Bailable warrant was also pending against him, he said.
