Karnataka bandh call has brought life to standstill in Bengaluru, Mandya and other places in the state.
Several Kannad organisation have given strike call following release of Cauvery water to Tamilnadu following Supreme Court order. Kannada film actors, directors and artists held a protest seeking justice for the farmers in the state. Protests are so far peaceful barring an incident in Bellary where Tamilnadu registered lorries were pelted with stones.
Wide scale protests in state Capital Bengaluru and South Karnataka and scattered protests in North Karnataka have disrupted normal life in the entire state. Shops and establishments remained closed.
Protesters held protests outside Central Government offices such as BSNL and Post office and asked employees to show their solidarity with the bandh. Innovative attires and display boards were used by protestors to convey the hardship faced by the state due to release of water to Tamilnadu.
Professional organizations of technos, doctors, lawyers and engineers came out in support of the bandh today. They sought permanent solution to the Cauvery row that has been causing inter-state disharmony since many decades.
