Campaigning in election-bound States of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Puducherry concluded this evening. Voting will take place on Monday.
In the 140-seat Kerala Assembly, stage is set for a triangular electoral battle, for the first time across the State. Our Correspondent reports that the BJP is fielding the highest number of 98 candidates followed by the Congress 87 and the CPI(M) 85.
In Tamil Nadu, more than 65,616 polling booths have been set up for polling in the State. Our Correspondent reports that election authorities are gearing up to conduct free and fair polling for the 234-member Assembly.
Puducherry is witnessing a multi-cornered contest for the 30-member Assembly for which 344 candidates are in the fray. Congress is fighting the elections in alliance with DMK while left parties has joined hands with VCK, DMDK and MDMK under the umbrella of People’s Welfare Front. Our Correspondent reports that Statehood, industrial revival, unemployment and prohibition were the major issues of the campaign.
The counting of votes for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam Assembly elections will be held on the 19th of this month.
