NEW DELHI: Union Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today said that call drops issue will be resolved within a month. Speaking at a function here today, Mr Prasad said the complaint against call drops and campaign against mobile tower cannot go together.

He said the Government is doing its duty and telecom operators need to perform theirs by optimising, synchronising and making adequate investments to improve mobile networks. As per the report of telecom regulator, TRAI, the call drop problem during peak hours in one year has almost doubled.

Mr Prasad also said protest against tower radiation is a sinister campaign which will hamper network functioning. He added that existence of radiation is not the issue but whether it is injurious or not, is the issue.

Telecom operators have cited shutting down of mobile towers due to radiation fears and also lack of spectrum, as the major reasons for call drops.
