NEW DELHI: In a an apparent warning to the ‘reconciliation lobby’ within the Muslims, a group led by the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmad Bukhari on Thursday made it clear that the community would not relinquish its claim over the Babri masjid at any cost.
A special meeting convened by the Imam to review the court judgment here also ruled out any settlement of the issue through dialogues.
Scholars and intellectuals at the meeting rejected outright the Allahabad verdict on Babri Masjid stating that it not only violated the constitutional and legal confines but also negated the established standards of the international justice.
The All India Muslim Representative Convention also expressed serious concern over the criminal silence of the state and central governments on the verdict and demanded that the center should make its stand on this, ‘unique kind’ of verdict based on sheer faith.
Addressing the media after meeting the Syed Ahmad Bukhari said that that the participants unanimously agreed that under the Shariah (Islamic Jurisprudence) giving away of the mosque, its forcible occupation or allowing idolatry within its precincts was totally haram (prohibited).
Holding the congress responsible for all the anti-masjid acts perpetrated right from the raking up of the Babri masjid issue until the Allahabad High court judgment, Imam Bukhari alleged that ‘a top leader of Congress went to Lucknow to influence the Babri judgment. He said on the one hand the Congress kept Muslim community under deception while, on the other hand, it fully helped the communal forces. Ruling out any possibilities of amicable solution, he said certain individuals were indulging in behind the scene deal but they have no credibility in the community as 98 per cent of Muslims do not approve such ‘deal’.
Passing a hard- hitting resolution, the convention held at the Jama Masjid outer court yard, said that the Allahabad verdict should be reversed as it has provided legal validity to the criminal and shameful act of the demolition of the Masjid. It reiterated the resolve of the community to continue the struggle for the restoration of the Babri mosque to its logical end.The meeting is significant as it was held just two day before the All India Muslim Personal Law Boards legal cell is meeting on Saturday here.
Interestingly, not a single member of the Board or from the Muslim organizations was invited to the convention. Those who participated in the convention include Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, Maulana Afzal Misbhahi, Maulana Huasin Kachochwi and BSP, MP Shaiqur Rehman Barq.
