PARLIAMENTBoth Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been adjourned for the day amidst uproar over Lalit Modi episode and Vyapam scam. Earlier both the Houses witnessed brief adjournments over the issues. This is for the third consecutive day that the logjam between the opposition and the government continued.

In the Lok Sabha, several opposition members including Mallikarjun Kharge had given notices for suspension of the Question Hour to take up the issues. However, Speaker Sumitra Majahan rejected the notices. BJP Chief Whip Arjun Ram Meghwal wanted to move a privilege motion against businessman Robert Vadra and son-in-law of Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi. Mr Vadra allegedly wrote some castigating remarks against Parliamentarians in his face-book page.

Later, the opposition members belonging to Congress, TRS and other parties trooped into the well of the House. TRS members were demanding the setting up of a separate High Court for Telangana. The House witnessed unprecedented noisy scenes forcing Speaker to adjourn the House till tomorrow.

The Rajya Sabha witnessed two adjournments in the pre-lunch session amid uproar over the Lalit Modi episode with the opposition Congress continuously pressing for the resignation of the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. As the House re-assembled at noon after its first adjournment, Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari wanted to take up question hour but the opposition refused to yield. Some of the Congress members displayed placards portraying Sushma Swaraj. As the noisy scenes continued, Mr Ansari adjourned the House till 2 PM. After resuming at 2.00 pm the House again adjourned for the day as noisy scenes continued over Lalit Modi and Vyapam issues.
