The Bhartiya Janata Party’s Scheduled Caste Morcha has decided to involve IAS and IPS officers belonging to SC community to propagate various Central government schemes for the benefit of the community members.
On the concluding day of the two-day National Executive meet of the Morcha, its President Dushyant Kumar Gautam told media in Jalandhar, that since people listen to such high officers so they would also be urged to popularise government schemes along with other Morcha members.
Mr. Gautam said the schemes including Pardhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Pardhan Mantri Surakhsa Bima Yojna, Atal Pension Yojna, Pardhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojna, Sukanya Samridhi Yojna and Mudra Bank would benefit poor strata of the society, which mainly include scheduled caste. Mr. Gautam was accompanied by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla.
Morcha President disclosed that Centre is in the process of enacting an amendment in the Scheduled Caste and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, which would ask for time bound action against those who commit any atrocity against the member of the Dalit community.
Mr Gautam said Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Thawar Chand Gehlot who was at the meeting on the first day has also agreed for an amendment in the present act. He said the amended act would be strongly followed to stop atrocities against the Dalits.
He said diversion of Scheduled Caste Sub Plan in many states is another major problem and a monitoring committee at the Centre would soon be formed to tackle it.
