The Community Party of India Marxists General Secretary Mr. Sitaram Yechuri today alleged that the BJP and RSS are manufacturing an aggressive nationalism debate so that they can force their agenda on the nation.
Addressing a Press Conference in Mumbai today, Mr. Yechuri alleged that people are grappling with financial stress which the BJP Government can do nothing about. Highlighting farmers’ plight across the nation Mr. Yechuri said that farmers are not getting the cost of the product. He said there has been 26 per cent increase in farmers’ suicide since the NDA assumed power. He also expressed concern over severe drought situation in Maharashtra and stated that Centre should intervene to help the farmers.
He said there is a drastic fall in the Crude oil rates but consumers have not benefited. He also criticized that the BJP’s third annual Budget only put burden on common people by way of inflationary indirect taxation. Yechuri also criticized the budget’s banking reforms which would give rise in foreign participation in national banking system.
The CPIM National Secretary D Raja who also addressed the Press on the occasion, said that the all sedition allegations on University’s Students Union leader and others are baseless and doctored. Referring to Rohit Vemula suicide, Mr. Raja alleged that Government is targeting Dalit Scholars and students for its political motives.
