Amid continued demand for the resignation of Vasundhara Raje, BJP President Amit Shah last night met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is understood to have discussed the party’s strategy over a fresh disclosure that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje allegedly benefitted from investments of over Rs 11 crore made by tainted former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi in her son’s company.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Shah held a meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who also separately met the Prime Minister.
Both leaders are believed to have discussed the issue and party’s strategy to ride out the massive row involving Raje as well as External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Earlier Lalit Modi controversy on Friday took a new turn with the former IPL commissioner tweeting that he met Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra at a restaurant in London.
Reacting to the claims by Modi, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said neither Priyanka Gandhi nor Robert Vadra has ever interacted socially with Lalit Modi.
Mr Surjewala alleged it is an attempt to divert attention from charges being faced by senior BJP leaders
However the BJP asserted that if fully supports Ms. Raje and questioned the silence of Congress President Sonia Gandhi over Lalit Modi’s tweet.
