comes a bombshell from the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj triggering off a virtual Civil War within BJP.
This is what she said in an interview to “Outlook” when the Bellary brothers were made ministers, Jaitleyji was Prabhari, BS Yedruappa was CM, Venkaiahji and Ananth Kumar were the Senior leaders. “I was opposed to three from the same family being made ministers”. But they had some ‘political compulsions’.
No female can get away with attacking the leadership of the Nagpur controlled, male-dominated saffron Party. What were political compulsions, Ms Swaraj was referring to. While Ms Swaraj did not spell out the BJPs political compulsion in making three members of a family ministers, it is no secret in the party that the Reddy brothers contributed a hefty amount the party’s election campaign in Karnataka and they fielded more than 20 candidates of their choice in constituencies around Bellary.
“Mail Today” comes out with a startling revelations that ‘the political compulsions’ referred to was a reported amount of Rs 160 crores that was deposited in the BJP coffers before the assembly elections in Karnataka by the three Reddy brothers.
When you accepted this money did you not think that you will pay a price for it? Swaraj asked in BJPs internal meeting. This is not the first time that Nitin Gadkari and company have ganged up against Ms Swaraj.
The picture of the Leader of the Opposition in tears as it appeared on the front page of Indian Express (March 10) said it all the pathetic states of leadership of principal opposition party. Mr Nitin humiliated Swaraj in front of television cameras when she suggested that the matter relating to CVC episode be treated as closed after The Supreme Court ruling.
This time again, he choose to take sides in a slug out between two top leaders. Springing in the defence of Arun Jaitley, he said “There is absolutely no question of any individual or individuals influencing this process in any particular manner. Any debate about the choice of ministers in the Karnataka government at this stage in the media is totally unnecessary” He goes on to say that the choice of ministers in Karnataka was “unanimous choice of the Party-both Central as well as the State”.
Mr Manish Tiwari- Congress Spokesman and a BJP baiter was quick to react “Ms Swaraj assertions once again understood the fundamental realty of the BJP–that money talks and Yedurappa and Reddy walk. While Karnataka burns with corruption, the Neros of the BJP fiddle in Delhi”.
