The BJP has accused Opposition parties of conspiring to defame it ahead of crucial state assembly elections by resorting to lies over the OROP issue.
Party National Secretary, Shrikant Sharma said, the Congress cheated ex-servicemen in the name of OROP during the 10 years of the UPA rule while the Modi government fulfilled its commitment by implementing it after coming to power.
He accused Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal of doing politics over the alleged suicide of the ex serviceman. Mr Sharma alleged that in 1973 it was Congress, which had cut the salary of Armed Forces and snatched away the OROP from them. He said, Congress has no moral right to talk about OROP.
Targeting Mr Kejriwal, he said he did nothing to deal with his numerous MLAs facing serious criminal charges but is now politicising a suicide case to target BJP. He said, the government had constituted a committee to look into certain anomalies following the OROP’s implementation and it has submitted its report. In two months, its recommendations will be executed.
