BJP today charged the opposition with fabricating the outcry on intolerance in the country. Speaking to media after BJP parliamentary party meeting in New Delhi, Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, however, said the government was discussing the issue as its attitude is tolerant and is always open to discuss any issue.
Mr Naqvi said, during the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu cautioned his party MPs not to make provocative statements saying that it goes against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developmental agenda.
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also targeted Congress party for taking on the government on the issue of intolerance saying that the opposition party is doing this for political gains. He said, the opposition is not able to digest the success of the Modi government. He claimed communal incidents have come down in the country in the recent weeks.
On Goods and Services Tax Bill, the Minister informed that meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh was constructive. He hoped that the GST would be able to pass through.
