A 17-member delegation and representatives of BIMSTEC countries today visited the Agartala Integrated Check Post bordering Bangladesh as part of the second trade capacity building facilitation programme.
The delegates were familiarised with the trade passenger movement, zero line, cargo facility area and passenger facility, among other things at the Integrated Check Post.


Talking to reporters after the visit, Nirlipta Rath, Research Assistant, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations, who was part of the delegation, said that the Agartala land port is a major connecting point. India can act as a major transit point where roads from Nepal and Bangladesh can be built upto India and spread across South East Asian countries.


She said that India has been leading with respect to digitization, in addition to trade facilitation like single window system, electronic data interface, e-commerce and green trade facilitation.
