Flood situation in Bihar continues to be grim as the water level of Ganga, Punpun and Burhi Gandak has crossed the danger mark.
Fresh areas have been engulfed by floodwaters. 56 people have died in flood-related incidents in the state. Twenty-one people have lost their lives in Bhagalpur, Gaya and Kaimur.
Over 18 lakh people in 15 districts are facing the brunt of floods, with Patna being the worst affected. Over three lakh people have been hit by the flood fury in the State Capital. Meanwhile, relief and rescue operations are continuing.
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said, the Centre’s priority is to provide immediate relief to flood-affected people of Bihar.
After visiting the rain-affected areas of Patna, Mr Prasad said, the Centre is providing all resources to tackle the situation.
