Central team visits Bihar to review flood situation , 1300 dengue cases reported

Bihar is facing the fury of rain as the retreating monsoon has caused havoc in many parts of the state.

The flood situation in Bihar remained critical even as water level in several rivers continue to recede. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out in all affected districts of the northern and eastern parts of the flood hit state.

Fear of epidemic outbreak looms large in flood affected areas of the state. Over one thousand three hundred dengue cases have been reported through out the state. About seven hundred has been reported from state capital itself. Over two hundred cases of Chickengunya have also been recorded.

Cases of Dengue and Chickengunya have been reported from different districts including Patna, Bhagalpur, Nalanda, Saran and Vaishali.

The state government has cancelled leaves of government doctors in flood affected areas. Both Central and State government has deployed additional doctors. Separate wards in main government hospitals have been set up in view of increasing number of cases of Dengu and Chickengunya.

Free health camps have also been set up. The authority has launched fumigation drive to combat the mosquito borne disease from spreading further in water logged areas. Anti – larva control vehicle has also been pressed into service

Six-member Central team led by Joint Secretary, Home Ministry, G Ramesh Kumar, visited various flood-affected areas of Bihar.

The team held discussions with top officials of the state government and assessed the situation.

The central team visited different districts including Patna, Bhagalpur and Khagaria during it’s two-day visit.

The team will submit a report to the Centre about devastating floods in the state.

Over 22 lakh people spread over 1004 villages of 15 districts are reeling under the impact of floods.
