BJP led NDA has won 12 out of 24 seats in Bihar Legislative Council election. The results are seen as major boost for BJP in the state and a big jolt to RJD-JDU-Congress alliance.
Nitish Kumar led alliance managed to win just 10 seats and Independent candidate Ritlal Yadav who lodged in Beur jail in Patna has won the Patna seat. The BJP got victory on 11 seats and its ally LJP one. JDU got five, RJD four, Congress one and Independent two.
BJP has termed the results as a defeat of arrogance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and rejection of JD(U)- RJD combine by the representatives of village Panchayats. The party said it also an indicator of the outcome of assembly polls scheduled to be held later this year.
Party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told media in New Delhi , that the results have shown the mirror to Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad that people are ready to dismiss them in the assembly elections. Mr. Hussain also claimed that BJP will win 200 seats in 243 member state assembly.
Meanwhile, JD(U) has said the election results must not be seen as an indication of assembly elections outcome as only selected numbers of people’s representatives vote in it. State party chief Vashishth Narayan Singh said that the BJP need not feel elated on the results. He said the real mood of the people will be tested in the assembly elections where they will vote on the basis of work, policy and leadership of the party.
