The issue of arrest of senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal rocked both the houses of Maharashtra legislature today. NCP sought for suspension of question answer hour in the legislative assembly and leader of opposition, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil sought for discussion over the matter. He alleged that the decision of the arrest was made even before questioning of Bhujbal started. NCP leaders raised slogans protesting Bhujbal’s arrest in Assembly. The assembly was adjourned for 20 minutes as a result.
A similar situation prevailed in the legislative council, where leader of opposition Dhananjay Munde sought for suspension of question hour and discussion about the issue.
But Civil Supplies Minister Girish Bapat opposed this saying that first the question hour should be held then discussion over the issue can take place. The council was adjourned for half an hour following the furore over the issue. Meanwhile, Bhujbal will be produced by Enforcement Directorate in the court this afternoon after his medical examination is done in St George Hospital.
