Inaugurates International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, in Haryana

President Mr Ram Nath Kovind today said that Shrimad Bhagwad Gita gave message of justice and morality to the people. He said that Gita is for the welfare of the whole humanity and by absorbing and understanding its message, we can make every day Mahotsav. He said while addressing the gathering of people and delegates from various countries after inaugurating the International Gita Seminar at Kurukshetra University.
Mr Kovind said that Gita has solution to all problems of the human beings, and it helps us to come out of the dilemma. Quoting a story, he said that a focused mind, clear of all dilemma, can help us achieve our goals.
He also praised the daughters of Haryana, saying that the success achieved by them in all the fields from space to beauty competitions is outcome of their determination and this has become possible because they were able to cross the social dilemmas.
He mentioned the names of Kalpana Chawla, Santosh Yadav, Sakshi Malik , Manushi Chiller and others in this context.
The President said that perhaps the great poet Ved Vyas has used feminine name for this holy book to give affiliation to the Mattri Shakti (Mother Power).
He said that Gita is for the welfare of the whole humanity and by absorbing and understanding its message, we can make every day Mahotsav. He also praised Haryana Chief Minister for organising the Mahotsav at International level.
Prior to him Gita scholars David Frawly and Bhai Sat Pal Singh from America and Gita Manishi Gyanandand also highlighted the importance of message of Gita and described it a universal Granth, which has no mention of a particular religion.
He was accompanied by Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat and others.
The President paid obeisance to Srimad Bhagavad Gita by offering flowers. He also participated in Gita Yagya and Gita poojan.
Later, Mr Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone of International Bhagavad Gita Research Centre and Reference Library. The President also inaugurated the International Seminar on Gita.
