The Bengaluru city police have arrested Kaleem Pasha, the husband of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Nagaravara Corporator today for instigating the rioters on Tuesday night. Arrests are being made for large scale rioting and vandalism in D J Halli and K G Halli area of Bengaluru over an objectionable post on Facebook.
The police have registered 22 FIRs in the case of rioting and arrested over 200 people for questioning. The boy who had posted the objectionable post has also been arrested. The FIR names functionaries of Social Democratic Party of India for the riots and four of its senior functionaries are arrested by the police.
The Pulakeshi Nagar MLA’s house and houses of his relatives and D J Halli police station were torched by the rioters on Tuesday night. Three persons were killed after police opened fire to quell the mob.
