Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever lands in New Delhi tonight for a three-day official visit to India—his first since taking office in February last year, and the first by a Belgian Prime Minister in two decades. He is accompanied by Defence and Foreign Trade Minister Theo Francken and a delegation of Belgian defence industries.

Bilateral Talks: Prime Minister De Wever will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow to review bilateral ties, regional developments, and global issues.
Trade and Business: He will deliver a keynote address at a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) event focused on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
Mumbai Leg: On September 4th, he travels to Mumbai, including a scheduled visit to the Bharat Diamond Bourse to foster commercial and diamond-sector cooperation.
Strategic Partnership: Discussions will target enhanced collaboration in trade and investment, defence, security, and renewable energy.
Bilateral trade between India and Belgium exceeded 13 billion dollars in 2025-26, anchored heavily by Antwerp’s role as a global diamond hub. This high-level visit aims to inject fresh momentum into India-Belgium relations and bolster Belgium’s strategic role within India-EU frameworks.
