Two of the infected persons had recently returned from Italy. The third person is also a family member of one of them. Three more persons have been put in quarantine on suspicion of the Corona virus infection.

All the three have been admitted to the Kurmitola General Hospital, in Dhaka.

Earlier, speaking at a function to mark International Women’s Day in Dhaka Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged people not to panic about the global outbreak of Corona virus as Bangladesh had sufficient capability and readiness to deal with it. She advised people to maintain cleanliness and follow instructions issued by the Health Ministry of Bangladesh.

Taking precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of the Corona virus, Bangladesh had restricted the entry of people from Italy, South Korea, Japan and Kuwait into the country without corona-free medical certificates with them.

Incoming passengers to the country are also being monitored at the airport and seaports of Bangladesh. Since January 21, close to 4.8 lakh people have been monitored and none of them had reported positive for the virus infection.
