The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and seven allied Islamist parties have announced a mass rally on Thursday (3 November) in Dhaka to press their five-point demands, including a referendum before the national election. Khelafat Majlis chief Maulana Mamunul Haque announced the programme at a press conference in Purana Paltan, saying a memorandum will be submitted to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus after the rally.

The coalition warned that if demands remain unmet, another “massive demonstration” will be staged in the capital on 11 November. The alliance’s demands include holding the referendum before polls to ratify the July Charter of Reforms, ensuring political neutrality of the interim government, and guaranteeing fair election supervision.
