AYODHYA: In a significant addition to Ayodhya’s rapidly growing hospitality infrastructure, the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL)—India’s largest hospitality firm—has officially opened its new property, Ayodhyām, Ayodhya – IHCL SeleQtions. The launch highlights the massive surge in spiritual tourism that has transformed the ancient holy city into one of the country’s most heavily visited cultural destinations.
The new 162-key hotel is designed to integrate contemporary luxury with Ayodhya’s deep spiritual and cultural heritage. Property features include:
- Cultural Experiences: Guests can access curated spiritual activities, including morning aartis, storytelling sessions led by traditional kathavachaks, and guided spiritual trails to the sacred Sarayu River.
- Regional Dining: The on-site restaurant, Divyam, serves a menu rooted entirely in local culinary traditions, with a heavy emphasis on authentic sattvic dining options.
- Modern Amenities: The property includes a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and versatile banquet spaces specifically tailored to host large-scale weddings, conferences, and social gatherings flowing into the city.
Expanding Infrastructure for the “Evolving Traveler”
“Spiritual tourism in India continues to see strong momentum, with Ayodhya being among the country’s most revered destinations,” said Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President of New Businesses & Hotel Openings at IHCL. She noted that the new property is strategically positioned to handle this influx of visitors while meeting the high expectations of modern travelers.
The hotel’s owner, Shilpa Shorewala, expressed pride in partnering with the Tata-backed IHCL group to bring a premium stay experience to life that honors the city’s unique character. General Manager Brij Rajpali added that the hotel aims to serve as a calm “spiritual abode” deeply connected to its surroundings.
The launch of Ayodhyām marks a pivotal step in Ayodhya’s evolution from a traditional pilgrimage site to a world-class spiritual tourism hub capable of hosting premium domestic and international travelers.
