The Assam BJP President and party’s Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbanand Sonowal has filed his nomination paper today at Majuli. Mr. Sonowal who is also a central minister will fight polls from Majuli assembly seat. He was accompanied by BJP leaders and MP Rameshwar Teli and Kamakhya Prasad Tasha among others.
18th of this month is the last day of filing nomination papers for the first phase of polls. Polling will be held on 4th of April in 65 seats. Congress has yesterday announced its first list of candidates. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will fight from his home turf at Titabor while former Union minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar has given ticket at Moran. Veteran Congress leader and state Assembly Speaker Pranab Kumar Gogoi has retained Sivsagar seat.
