Assam Assembly Speaker Pranab Gogoi has suspended five BJP MLAs and seven from Congress, who had recently declared their allegiance to the opposition party, from the entire winter session for disobeying his ruling and creating noisy scenes.
As soon as the house assembled, BJP member Jadab Deka demanded the cancellation of Question Hour. BJP members sought to discuss the prevailing law and order situation and attack on a particular community. Ruling Congress members opposed their demand. Thereafter, the BJP MLAs marched towards the Speaker and continued demanding the cancellation of Question Hour and a decision on the issue today itself.
With no signs of cooling of frayed tempers, the Speaker called the Marshals, who took the BJP MLAs out of the House, and announced his decision to suspend the members for the Winter Session period.
Later outside the assembly, the BJP demanded the resignation of the Home Minister for the alleged law and order failure. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is holding the Home portfolio.
