Journalist, social activist​ and a former employee of the Aligarh Muslim University N Jamal Ansari passed away today at his residence here after brief illness.

He retired from the Public Relations Office, AMU in 2012, yet he remained active with his writings for newspapers and magazines and regularly contributed to English and Hindi dailies.

AMU Vice Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor expressed a deep sense of sorrow on Jamal’s demise and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed for a higher place in Jannah for him.

Professor Shafey Kidwai, Member Incharge, Public Relations Office said Jamal Ansari was very popular in university fraternity and earned respect from a cross section of society for his writings. He served the PRO office for nearly five years and proved his worth as a big help in preparing news stories.

Dr Rahat Abrar, Associate Member Incharge and former PRO, felt grieved on Jamal’s sad demise and prayed for his Maghfirah. He said Jamal was a committed person, always held his office responsibilities in high esteem and worked hard with excellent results.

AMU PRO, Mr Omar Peerzada, along with other staff members expressed grief at Jamal’s passing away and prayed for solace to the bereaved family. He said Mr Jamal Ansari will always be remembered for his friendly and receptive nature.
