A AKHTER / NEW DELHI
BJP President Amit Shah has said, it would have been an insult to people’s mandate if his party had not staked claim to form government in Karnataka.
Addressing media at the party headquarters in New Delhi Monday, Mr Shah said, it was not a confused mandate since BJP was short of just 7 seats in the state.
Mr. Shah said, JD(S) formed an alliance with Congress against the people’s mandate and it is an unholy alliance. Mr Shah said, BJP emerged as the single largest party in Karnataka and mandate was in favour of the BJP. He added that there is a big jump in the voteshare of his party.
Mr Shah said, Congress is celebrating even though more than half of their ministers lost, and their Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lost from one seat. He questioned why JDS is celebrating after getting 37 seats. He said, the mandate was against Congress.
Replying to a media query, Mr Shah said, Congress leaders have accepted that the audio tapes released by party were false and it was released to influence the case in the Supreme Court. He said, Congress likes Judiciary and EVMs when it wins and BJP expect them to do the same when they loose elections.
