The Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily halted today again from both south Kashmir Pahalgam and north east Kashmir’s Baltal routes due to bad weather. On July 10, the Yatra had also been halted due to bad weather. Moderate to heavy rainfall around the cave shrine and all along the mountain tracks starting from Baltal and Pahalgam base camps since early morning is reported which has compelled the administration to halt the Yatra temporarily.

Local Met Department in its weather advisory issued at 4 o’clock this morning predicted intermittent moderate to heavy spell of rain or thundershowers in Jammu-Udhampur, Batote and Banihal areas and intermittent light rain or thundershowers in Banihal Khanabal range. Similarly, light rain or thundershowers have been predicted on tracks along Pahalgam and Baltal routes and around holy cave with warning of heavy rains in Jammu, Udhampur, Batote and Banihal areas.
