This year over 2 lakh 84 thousand Yatris had darshan of Shivlingamarnath

AMN

The annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir concluded on Sunday on Shravan Purnima which coincide with Raksha Bandhan. Adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the yatra. The cave is situated in the Himalayas at around 14,000 feet above the sea level in Anantnag district.

The most important religious ritual of annual Amarnath Yatra is the Holy Mace i.e Charri Mubarak. After leaving from Dashnami Akhara Srinagar last Monday, the Holy Mace along with Sadhus and devotees travelled through Mattan, Pahalgam, Sheshnag and Panjtarni halting points along Pahalgam route. The final Puja led by Mahant Deependra Giri performed at Holy Cave today marks the conclusion of annual Yatra.

The 60 day Yatra commenced on 28th of June from both the traditional routes of Nunwan Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and Baltal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The Yatra period remained peaceful as authorities had made adequate multi-layered foolproof security arrangements.

Separatists including militant outfits had also welcomed the annual religious pilgrimage before the start of Yatra that created the positive atmosphere on the ground. This year over 2 lakh 84 thousand Yatris had darshan of Shivling that is over 24 thousand more than the last year’s figure of 2 Lakh 60 thousand visitors to the Holy Cave.
