The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has announced that it will not form alliance with either Congress or AIUDF for the upcoming assembly polls. Party Spokesperson Manoj Saikia however did not deny that talks are on for an alliance with the BJP. He said that the party has submitted a list to the BJP mentioning the assembly seats where party is likely to put candidates.
Asom Gana Parishad has also kept the option open to form alliance with small regional parties. Asom Gana Parisahd has been in power in Assam twice under the leadership of P K Mahanta. However the party failed to win a single seat in last Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and state Congress President Anjan Dutta met Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi today.
