At least 20 people were killed and 45 others injured in a bomb blast outside the Supreme Court in the centre of capital, Kabul, today.
Government officials said an apparent suicide bomber targeted the car park of the court compound as employees leaving their offices at the end of the working day.
The Ministry of Health, which reported the casualty numbers, said the figure was expected to rise.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which follows a number of deadly bombings by the Taliban and other militants in recent months.
The UN says civilian casualties in Afghanistan have hit a new high, with 3,498 civilians killed in 2016
